New Executive Director

Executive Director Mark Alexa retired at the start of 2021. Community Shelter Services has been fortunate to have had Mark at the helm for five years, and he has done an excellent job guiding and developing the agency.  Under Mark’s leadership, the organization has stabilized the operating budget through more consistent revenue sources and reduced operating expenses while continuing to focus on improved care for residents and growing several key programs. Most recently, Mark has led the team during this challenging time of COVID. That is no small task. We appreciate all his hard work keeping our clients, staff, and community safe and the agency on solid footing.

With the assistance of Decision Associates, the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors announced Diane Lazette as the new Executive Director. She started her new role in mid-December. Diane has an extensive background in Fundraising, Leadership, and Management. She brings many years’ experience as Executive Director of several distinguished organizations such as the Yatooma’s Foundation for the Kids, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the National Federation of Independent Business.

As Executive Director, Diane will work closely with staff, the Board, and our community partners to continue to fulfill CSS’s mission to house the homeless in Erie County with compassion and dignity. Diane is a positive and energetic leader with a decisive and collaborative approach to bringing teamwork to the organization she leads.  Please join us in welcoming Diane to her new role as Executive Director and a new chapter in our organization’s history of community service.
